DEVOTIONAL: Psalm 150 1-2

"Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary, praise Him in His mighty firmament. Praise Him for His mighty acts, praise Him according to His excellent greatness."

We are forgiven even though we are sinners. We thank God for His mercy, we thank God for His love. This verse tells us to praise God. Let us today ask God to allow His word to flow easily from our lips, that we will without hesitation speak highly of Him in every room that we enter. Let us today thank God for the work He has done in our lives, what He is still doing and what He will do in the future. Let us never take God, His creations and His love & mercy toward us for granted.

We praise God because He is worthy.

In Jesus name, Amen.

FASHION – What to Wear to a Bachelorette Party as a Guest

Image
It’s June! Before we know it wedding season will be upon us. The bachelorette party is a big deal, it’s fun, flirty and girly but what is the appropriate dress…what to wear is a question I always find myself asking. There are a few factors to consider when putting together outfits for a bachelorette. 1.       What the bride says goes If the bride or the bridesmaids provide information as to what colours to wear or what colours not to wear DO follow suit. It’s courteous and makes things easier for you in that you can narrow down your outfit idea to a certain colour or omit outfit ideas that do not align with the requested colour. Personally, I don’t like to dictate colours but some people have a preference and that’s fine too. It’s also an opportunity to shop for something new, should you not have anything that fits the request 😊 . The general rule, just like for a wedding, is not to wear white unless the bride requests this. 2.      Theme...

DEVOTIONAL: Philippians 1:6

"He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ". This Bible verse is special to me, specifically the last part of it but lets start at the beginning.  "He who has begun a good work in you" - God knew us before we entered this world. He had a plan for us from our inception. He has always wanted us to be more like Him and will put challenges and achievements on our path so that we may see His hand and ultimately use it to glorify Him. We were born into purpose and each day we are on this beautiful Earth God is using our life experiences to shape us into the people He has called us to be from the minute He thought the world needed us.  Although God wants us to be like Him, He knows our human nature, that we are fallible and sinful. Despite this, He does not give up on us - how thankful we should be! Even when we fall short of the people God has called us to be, He continues to work on us, moulding us into the people we are s...

HOME: PSHB - The ‘Cancer’ of Trees

Image
When we first viewed the house we eventually chose to be our home it was the three beautiful trees on the front lawn that captivated us. Large, beautiful, old trees that would come to provide many a shade on sunny days. I remember the previous owner pleading with me to never cut down the middle one and of course I was agreeable because why would we ever want to cut down such a beautiful tree?!   Enter PSHB… I had never heard of  Polyphagous Shot Hole Borer ( PSHB) until May 2024. A message was sent in our neighborhood's WhatsApp group alerting residents of a bug that has reportedly infested trees in the area and we were encouraged to inspect our trees for any tell tale signs of infection.  PSHB is a tiny beetle, originating from Southeast Asia that has infested host trees in countries including South Africa, Australia, the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States of America (USA) just to mention a few.  According to Australia's Department of Primary Industries ...
